The Indie Beer Cup, S.A. team, the Costa Rican Craft Brewers Association (ACACR) and the Panamanian Brewers Association (ACAP) announce the third edition of the Indie Beer Cup, to be held in Costa Rica and Panamá from february 8 to February 15, 2020.
Several characteristics set the Indie Beer Cup apart from other tournaments. First, we have merged the two most important beer competitions of Central America -the Pura Vida Indie Beer Cup (CR) and the Barrilito de Oro (PTY)- to spread through Central America the culture of excellence in craft beer. This Cup is also the first international craft beer competition that is limited exclusively to independent commercial brewers. Furthermore, in addition to certified BJCP judges and Cicerones, we have made a concerted effort to ensure that a large majority of the judges are internationally renowned professional brewers from top independent breweries from around the world. We are convinced that this judging format, combined with short judging sessions for the event, spread over several days, will ensure that this international competition fulfills our objectives, namely, to position Central America’s dynamic and vigorous craft beer scene on the world stage, while giving the highest quality, conscientious feedback to participants from around the world, and exposing our community of brewers to the highest exponents of the international craft beer movement.
Along with the Indie Beer Cup, we will host several academic and social events that will end in the Awards Ceremony to be held in Panamá on February 14 at the Microbrew Fest which is the oldest and biggest Craft Beer Festival of Central America. The events will be made up of a series of talks, seminars and gatherings with some of the world’s foremost independent craft brewers.
